Aparup Chattopadhyay, Ph.D. P.Geo.

Aparup has more than twenty five years of experience in Process Mineralogy, development and application of quantitative mineral analysis for metallurgy diagnostics. His area of expertise include quantitative mineral characterization using classical and automated mineral analyzers for evaluation of ores, concentrates and tailings. He had pioneered the development of new Rapid Mineral Scan Service which has been highly praised and presently used by the industry as a cost effective way to obtain relevant mineralogy information quickly.

He has developed an integrated novel gold deportment technique for refractory gold and complex copper-gold deposit in collaboration with industry, various universities and different Centres-of-Excellence using state-of-the-art mineralogy techniques. After completion of post-doctoral research fellowship, he served SGS Minerals as a Senior Mineralogist during 2005 to 2011, developed Rapid Mineral Scan Service, new characterization tool for Double Refractory and complex copper-gold ores, and mineralogical evaluation of Polymetallic (Cu, Pb, Zn) Sulfides and U and Fe-Oxides. He has worked as Manager, Process Mineralogy at Process Research Oretech Inc., Mississauga from 2012 to 2015.

Presently, he is working as a Director & Lead Mineralogist at Integrated Process Mineralogy Solutions Inc. He has authored more than 25 technical papers in reputed journals and international conferences and Practising Member for Association of Professional Geoscientist of Ontario since 2006.

Aparup has spent most of his career working with metallurgists and mineral engineers in the area of characterization and evaluation of feeds, concentrates and tailings to minimize the losses associated with tailings and to optimize the process flow-sheets. He has published and presented more than 25 technical papers technical papers at international journals and conferences, conducted in-house training and reviewer of technical papers.
